Helping people is the source of Happiness

Just now I helped a mid-aged lady to lift a heavy trolley down the bus.

After that, she asked: "Are you Chinese?"

"Yes." I replied.

Then she said Xie Xie (i.e. thank you in Mandarin) with perfect pronunciation.

We both laughed.

That just made my day =)

Halloween

The urge to enjoy

This moment, I feel like I have the urge to enjoy my life in Hamilton and McMaster.

I feel like I have neglected a lot of things/events happened around me.

Now, I'm listening to CFMU 93.3 FM. It's a McMaster's campus and community radio station. I knew that I once listened to this, but it was two years ago.

Yesterday, I had a relaxing (actually very tiring) of almost four hours walking with my housemate in downtown Hamilton. My legs were fatigue but I see a lot of things. To me, this city is old and small. But yesterday, I see something very special of this city. The houses, the apartments, the streets and the people.

It was 8 o'clock after we finished our dinner in a Cantonese restaurant. It was my idea to go and give a try at that restaurant because I want to taste all Chinese restaurants in this city before I leave. It turned out that the dishes were not that good. Never mind that. The air was very cold and I only wear a white T-shirt and a short pant. It's never a good idea to wear like that at night here in Hamilton.

It has been two years, what had I accomplish?

Summer Rain

Only rain can comfort my heart now
I still remember the old days
When he was still a school bus driver
When I was still a primary school student
He was an old man
They called him Uncle Guang
For 6 years, I had been in his little bus
His bus had a very special mark
It was a red ladybird
Every school-day, his bus reached my old home at 5.30
when the sky was still dark
Your face is still very clear
Although I had long forgotten faces of those
in the same bus with me
I still remember the dark forest
There was a few very old factories in the forest
I don't remember what they were
There was a wooden bridge over a river
I am afraid they were gone
The path was not easy
When the sky was raining
it became wet
Are u still there?
You sold your bus when your wife was sick
I never heard of you afterwards
I like the smell before rain fall
It's refreshing
When will be the first drop of summer rain?
I'll wait.

P.S.: A few days ago, those memories pop out from my mind. When I grow older, I become more emotional. Anger, sadness, and happiness start to grow stronger.

Salads + Heat Transfer + Pangea 2010 + About Others'

Since last week, I fall in love with salads.

When I bought the salad from the Student Center and I first bite the potato (not actually know what was that), oh my, I was in love.

Now, my mind keep thinking of salads every single day. I will go to buy salads either from Metro which is near to my house or Student Center.

I feel so satisfied when I put them into my mouth slowly. Ermmm, yummy~~~

Will my body weight finally drop? No. Because I love Lay's potato chips too, although it has zero trans fat.

A short story to share. Yesterday I went to Metro to buy some groceries. I left my basket fulled with stuffs and a Green bag on location X and I went to search for asam in hope I can cook asam fish because I dropped by Yash's house on Saturday to make "Tong Yuan" for the multicultural event Pangea and she was about to cook asam fish. I felt so hungry at that moment and I wished I could stay for dinner. Hehe. Then I said to myself I want to cook asam fish on Sunday. When I came back to pick up the basket, it disappeared into thin air. I searched over the market throughly and I couldn't find the basket anywhere. Argh, what to do, I had to shop again.

The multicultural event Pangea was held on Sunday. I did not attend the event because I was in rush to finish my lab report. Err, hate the report! The event was a huge success. There were around 20 cultural performance and pavilions. Although I was absent, I showed up the day before the event and I watched a few awesome on stage performances. Especially the performance from Netherlands I guess, not sure though, judging by the appearance of the lady who dresses like the Dutch lady.

I had my heat transfer yesterday evening. It wasn't too bad, but I definitely need more time to finish the paper. I got 71 for the first paper and I was like YEAH!

Hopefully I could maintain the grade.

Although heat transfer is said to be the most difficult course (said by professor himself, this course used to have 5 tests), I think it's okay. The concepts and theories are very interesting. In fact, I prefer heat transfer than Thermodynamics.

Whenever people write about their parent(s) in their blog, it is heartwarming. For example, this post. Be strong.

An unfriendly waiter

Yesterday, I went to a Chinese restaurant with other Malaysian scholars (except Agnita, haha) for dinner.

I heard a very unpleasant story from Alyssa that a worker of that restaurant asked her once if Malaysian Chinese hate Chinese from China. I was astonished when I heard that. May be there are some black sheep out there that do hate you, but what the heck does it how to do with her? A customer is a customer, you must never ask something as foolish as that and you do not have the rights to ask that as well.

Moreover, a Chinese waiter with a "super black face" who served my table poked me at my right shoulder or appeared behind me without any notice like a ghost each time he served a dish. I felt really unpleasant when he poked me each time. Alyssa also noticed the "black face" of the waiter.

When we walked out from the restaurant, he was standing at the exit and said thank you. I didn't even bother about what he spit out from his bullshit mouth.

To that waiter, two words for you: "Fuck you!"

The 101th Post + Posters

Huhu, celebrating the 101th post on my blog!

It has been two years I blogging and I have to say it's quite fun to share my "sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy" experience with you. Chinese people always say 五味人生(life has five tastes, direct translate), but I can't figure out the fifth taste. Can you please tell me?

Wait a second?! You only wrote one hundred posts in two years? Yes, kinda inactive blogger I am.

(Sudden jump)
There was a posters selling held in the Student Center. Yesterday evening, I took the break between classes to take a look at those posters. I was initially managed to buy one or two posters to decorate the kinda boring walls of my room. I wandered around the place, taking n-turns and walked from Point A to Point B again, again, and again. I just couldn't decide which poster I want to buy. When I looked at the poster I liked, I would stare at the poster for a few seconds and then walked away. I looked at other students and they crazily wrote down code of the posters they wanted to buy. Then I looked at my form, it was still empty after half an hour I wandered around. I don't understand why I am such a indecisive person. I just can't make quick decisions. Eventually, I left with empty hands.

Today, I went to the location again and I told myself I must buy a poster. Hehe, kinda silly. May be I wanted to push myself to make quick decision, at least once. This time, I did make a quick decision. Do you believe love at first sight? I do.

BONUS:

Do you feel itchy? Don't be shy. Follow me: picky, picky.

Frustration

Frustration overwhelmed me.

I just had my second chem eng test and guess what, I wrongly interpret the question. I seldom did this stupid mistake because each time I will highlight sentences in the question and read them carefully.

Oh God, why this happened to me???

Mixture of Life

Not so happy. Because I didn't do well in Stats Test 2.

Very happy. Because 5 digits in my account again! D90, you'll be definitely mine!

When you gain too much, you'll lose something. When you lose something, you'll gain another thing.

That's life. C'est la vie.

Mid-fall is here. The weather is so adorable.

I have a bad day

Failed my Statistics Test 1.
From now on, I gave up studying. But, please, keep on learning.
I wonder if I can do this, because I never keep promises to myself.

To Bandar Diraja- Kuala Kangsar

Yesterday morning, I went to Kuala Kangsar with my mom and sister to visit my grandpa, uncles and aunties. It has been one year I don't see them. I admit that I don't even think about them while I was in Canada, but it's good to see them again. I always think that I am cold-hearted, may be God had only gave me 50 percent of emotion that a normal person should have, I have to find the another half.

The another purpose I followed my mom was--to eat. Yes, to eat buns. I found out from Sinchew Daily that an old restaurant at Kuala Kangsar sells buns that was very famous among the malay communities. So, when the clock hits 2, we headed to this restaurant called

Yut Loy???? No,no,no. You should read Loy Yut. Why read the name in reverse? In fact, the old Chinese name is written from right to left. So, you should read the name from right to left too. Interesting, right?

It is a very old fashioned restaurant. Most of the customers are malays. When we reached there around 2.10pm, the restaurateur told us we have to wait. Thus, we wait patiently while I looked around the restaurant. The cleanliness of the kitchen was OMG, houseflies were everywhere. As soon as the buns were ready, the restaurateur told us that all buns were sold out. What the heck? How could that possible? They claim they can sell 3000-5000 buns per day. What the fuck? I say, that is impossible. Whatever. In the end, we left with 13 buns which is RM19.

This is stewed beef bun. In my opinions, it was okay. I will give 5 out of 10. Haha. I am very strict when come to eating.

Oops, my mom and sister "accidentally" become my supermodels for this snapshot.

And I saw this old-fashioned motorcycle parked at the corridor, so cute. I could imagine when I ride the motor on roads, and the motorcycle break apart in a sudden, because of my weight. Haha, it's not good to make fun of someone's weight. ZzZZzZzZzZ

This gate is very meaningful. When I was young, I always went to my aunt's home with my cousins. And the fastest way to reach her house is through this gate. This gate wasn't exist and the house behind the trees wasn't occupied when the time we always visit my aunt's house. The only thing left is sweet memories.

Art of Nature, Nature of Art

Britains’ Got Talent

Britains’s Got Talent

9 hour 35 minutes Away From Departure

9 hour and 35 minutes, seems like a long period for me. Waiting is the most torturing process. By the way, I am not here to complain. Just wanna share some photos.

This is the first time I see a wall plug at a chair in a bus.

Did you see the rainbow????

Foreigners are definitely different from Asians. Why? Look at this photo, they enjoy the sunlight under a big standing umbrella. On the other hand, Asians especially ladies and women will hold a big umbrella on their hand and apply creams on their face and wear long sleeve shirts to prevent "so-called sun burning".

Game Over

Wow, I am done with my first year! Time is flying really really fast. I don't feel like I am here for 8 months already. Tonnes of assignments and projects had kept me in a really busy life. I feel empty after the exam. Why? Simple, I am too free now, though I should be starting to plan my trips. My friend counts on me to plan the Angkor Wat trip, but I don't have any experience in planning trip. I'll try my best anyway. More trips are still in planning, I will try to explore as many places as possible since I think I am not going back to Malaysia in the second year.

Many stuffs to pack, but lazy.

Malaysia, I will be back! Cheers!

The Biggest Wow Ever !

Susan Boyle, an 47 year old unemployed woman, wows all the judges, including the notorious Simon Cowell on Britain's Got Talent audition by her amazing voice. She's not beautiful and fat. But her voice: stunning, powerful and comfortable, touched the heart of all judges. Simon even gave the biggest YES to her, that's really rare.

This story tells us, never give up your dreams, and never judge a book by its cover.

Unfortunately, the video can't be posted here. But you can still watch the video followed by this link Susan Boyle Rocks!

She has her own fansite! That's so OMG! Susan Boyle-the hidden tiger

Final Countdown

Less than 25 days, I will be able to drink kopi-iced and eat nasi lemak, again. Before that, I have to confront the final battle. It won't be easy, but I'll win, for sure.

Tomorrow: Engineering Design and Programming 1D04: I don't like programming. I only have 70% chance to win this battle.

Physics 1E03: Surprisingly, I do well in physics this semester. And more surprisingly, I chose Engineering Physics as my third choice. 80% chance to win.

Calculus 1ZZ5: I did pretty well in the previous tests except the first one. 85% chance to win.

Introduction to Professional Engineering 1P03: The worst course I've ever taken. Stupid project! 70% chance to win.

Macroeconomics 1BB3: Did pretty well compared to microeconomics. 80% chance to win.

Introduction to Materials 1M03: It's going to be a harsh battle! 75% chance to win.

Let's do a lecturer evaluation.

1st Semester:

Chemistry 1E03-Prof. Barbier Dumont: Good lecturer, humorous. I believe he's not Canadian. May be from German or other European country due to his ascent.

Microeconomics 1B03-Prof.Hannah Holmes: Not bad. But her style of lecturing is kinda boring. Sometimes, I fell alseep in her class. =)

Engineering Design and Graphics-Dr.T.Doyle. Well, his name is a bit funny to me. Only 50 minutes lecture per week, so no comment to his style of lecturing.

Introductory Mechannics 1D03-Dr.McKay: An old man with grey hairs and big belly. Humorous, joyous, experienced.

2nd Semester:

Engineering Programming 1D04-Dr.Mihai Albu- To me, he looks like a punk. Long hair to shoulders, bushy beard, always hold a coke on his hand. Funny guy. Plus, he used to be in the same bus with me twice! =) Weird >,<

Materials Science 1M03-Prof.J.Hoyt- I never remember his name. His class starts at 8.30am. So, I always ponteng. Humorous. He's a good actor. =)

Physics 1E03-Dr.W.Okon- Youngest among all my lecturers. Funny guy. One day in class after the course evaluation had been done, he read the comment a student wrote, and he yelled: "Dr.Okon is sexy and cute." All students in class laughed like hell. I don't whether the student did write the comment or Dr.Okon just lied. It's a mystery till now. =)

Intro to Pro. Engineering 1P03-Dr.Robert - No comment.

Macroeconomics-Prof. Bridget O'Shaughnessy- Humourous. Always mock engineering students in her class.

Here comes my two favourite lecturers. Both are calculus lecturers.

Math 1Z04-Dr.Childs: Super funny guy. He has lots of fans. Every student likes him. Me too!

Math 1ZZ5-Dr.Protas: Another funny guy. Not as popular as Dr.Childs. Yet, he's my favourite lecturer. And his favourite quotes:
1) "Let me get some colored chalks~~~"
2)"Ah, babbabbabbababa~~~" and he just "bababbabababab~~" facing the blackboard holding a chack on his right hand.

The end. The final battle begins~

Deep inside your heart

I wonder how many songs and movies could bring tears to my eye? But, this movie scene and the melody of this song always touch deep inside my heart.

Sick =(

Haiz, finally I am sick. I thought I gonna fall sick during the winter due to the harsh weather but I didn't. Unexpectedly, I fell sick at the beginning of spring. Indeed, sick is not fun. And I have a test tonight. I will go back and sleep immediately after the test and hope that I will recover from the flu tomorrow morning. Otherwise, I am dead. God bless me.
